Claiming Common Spaces IV: Cool Down
The fourth edition of “Claiming Common Spaces” is a festival, thematic platform and working meeting at the same time. With the motto “Cool Down”, it focuses on our treatment of planet Earth. The climate crisis requires a radical rethinking and action that encompasses all social and political fields of action. Whether in the economy, education, technology, urban and landscape planning or culture – we urgently need new conditions and practices for a future worth living in and for coexistence with human and non-human actors.
With dance and theatre productions, installations, participatory performances, panels and interactive workshops, the artistic programme of “Claiming Common Spaces IV: Cool Down” invites reflection, participation, action and aesthetic engagement with the challenges that the current situation confronts us with. Sensual, physically and emotionally activating spaces of experience and discourse are intended to stimulate reflection on a new togetherness, to expand options for action and competences, to explore the potential of art and to take a stance on the climate crisis.
The joint festival of the Alliance of International Production Houses will take place this year in Essen and Dresden:
Programm-Team PACT Zollverein: Juliane Beck, Katharina Heib, Stefan Hilterhaus, Maja Zimmermann
Programm-Team HELLERAU: Carena Schlewitt, Rosa Müller, Saskia Ottis, André Schallenberg
“Claiming Common Spaces IV: Cool Down” is a project within the framework of the Alliance of International Production Houses supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
