4:3 Kammer Musik Neu

  • Festival

Every autumn, “4:3” focuses on experimental and contemporary music and art dedicated to new formats, constellations and spaces of encounter. With Ensemble Decoder, Zeitkratzer, Ensemble Adapter, Ensemble Modern and others, the program has so far included world premieres and adaptations by, for example, Rebecca Saunders, Shiva Feshareki, Alexander Schubert, Robert Henke and Ragnar Kjartansson.

After Alexander Schubert’s award-winning concert project “CONVERGENCE” will be presented in an expanded version for holographic projections alongside a video installation by Analivia Cordeiro at HELLERAU on October 14, 2023, numerous other program items will follow starting November 9: The young ensemble CONTINUUM XXI, which aims to create new contemporary repertoire for historical musical instruments, explores labyrinthine forms and spaces with “COLOR & LAMENTO”. Helmut Oehring continues his cycle of documentary poetic works focusing on isolated female perspectives in masculinized dramas with the premiere of his audio/video installation “EURYDIKE? vol. 2”. The artists Ulf Langheinrich and John Moran, who have been associated with Dresden for many years, will present new audiovisual works, while the now well-established cooperation with the Dresden Composers’ Class will provide opportunities for the presentation of numerous world premieres by students. On November 17 and 18, two German premieres of works commissioned by this year’s Venice Biennale will follow, “GLOCKENBUCH IV” by Marcus Schmickler and “ORBIT – A War Series” by Brigitta Muntendorf, which in their technical spatial constellation mark new paths for future concert forms.
