Loyalty

  • Dance

“Loyalty” – this is what ballet can look like in the future. With five world-class dancers, the Australian-American choreographer Linder brings archetypal ballet attributes such as corps de ballet, partner work and visual language into a modern form. After several contemporary dance pieces, which were shown in renowned houses such as Sadler’s Wells in London or MoMA in New York, this exploration of the tradition-rich language of movement is for the former student of the Royal Ballet School London also a look at the power relations inscribed in the genre of classical ballet. Linder and his team combine virtuosity, theatricality and abstraction, presenting themselves as simultaneously raw and sublime, melancholy and serene, and astonishing in their animal-human physicality. The music for this “new ballet in three acts” is provided by the British avant-garde band Coil.
