Back to Back Theatre
The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes
Welcome to a community centre in Geelong, Australia. Plastic chairs are carried onto the stage, a public meeting is called. Four actors discuss small and large problems with great humour: which forms of physical touch are considered appropriate, but also the endless therapeutic programmes they have to endure as people with disabilities in order to attain some sense of “normality”. However, the game takes a sudden turn when an artificial intelligence appears and becomes the protagonist. How do we make decisions together that are in the best interest of a democratic society?
Back to Back Theatre, the world-renowned inclusive Australian theatre company (i.a. recipients of the Ibsen Award), is coming to Frankfurt for the first time with “The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes”. What begins as a cunning chamber piece becomes a large and moving theatrical event due to the breadth of its questions and the brilliance of its performers.
