Bruno Beltrão / Grupo De Rua
New Creation
Bruno Beltrão is one of Brazil’s most internationally successful choreographers and regularly tours Europe with his work. Most recently, he was at the 2016 Theater der Welt festival at Kampnagel with the world premiere of his previous work INOAH. Beltrão’s energetic, virtuosically danced productions are characterised by physical vehemence and an analytical understanding of music and space. With his Grupo de Rua, he has fused the vocabulary of the urban – the gestures, movements and rituals of street dance, break dance and hip hop – with the techniques of contemporary dance like no other. Slowed down by the pandemic and the political situation in Brazil, Beltrão is finally presenting a new piece on the big stage in May for which he is expanding his previously exclusively male ensemble to include female dancers for the first time.
