Pleasure

Welcome to the underworld! Dionysus and Medusa invite us to a night of pleasure. Surrounded by the rivers of hatred, lamentation, fire and oblivion, they welcome us to an island of pleasure where pain, pleasure and kink meet. What does it mean to negotiate consensual giving and receiving together in a pleasurable way? Where do we find moments of pleasure despite pain or exhaustion? The Late Night Variety Show is hosted by Nina Mühlemann and Edwin Ramirez. With their crip-queer theatre project Criptonite, they regularly explore questions of accessibility, physical autonomy and resistance, for example through the medium of pleasure.

On a large, soft bed, Mühlemann and Ramirez, now in their guises as Medusa and Dionysus, interweave Greek mythology with their own experiences and blur the boundaries between mythical creatures and the self, lust and shame, sensuality and monstrosity. They are joined by other crip-queer forces of the underworld: Anajara Amarante, Kübra Sekin and Lea Gockel, who add further dimensions to the night of pleasure with their sensual and pleasurable guest contributions.
