Interdisciplinary Parkour by HELLERAU – “Working Title: Europe”
On 03./04.04.2020, the “Who’s Who” of the Saxon independent scene will come together to find partnerships, continue to weave old networks, and herald the second round of the “Parkour” format. The long-term goal is to develop a festival for the independent scene in Saxony.
In 2019 the focus was on the international cultural maize “Europe”. In the Festspielhaus, the audience was able to discover twelve selected sketches and short projects on the theme “Working Title: Europe”.
In April 2020 the aim is now to paint a broader picture of Saxony’s independent scene and present the audience with theatre, dance and performance productions by freelance artists*. For the Parkour 2020: “Weiter Zeigen!” HELLERAU is working together with partners* from Leipzig, Chemnitz, Görlitz and Bautzen. LOFFT – DAS THEATER (Leipzig), Residenz – Schauspiel Leipzig, Bühne KOMPLEX (Chemnitz) and others were asked to participate in this year’s edition and to recommend stage productions: Productions which have been of outstanding importance for the own venue in the last two years and which have nevertheless not or only rarely been performed at other venues in the Free State of Saxony. A selection of these productions will be shown in HELLERAU as part of Parkour 2020: “Weiter Zeigen!
In addition to the stage programme, there will again be a Saxony-wide call for artists* in the visual and performative arts, who can apply with their short plays, work-in-progress and small formats as well as installations etc. The supporting programme will focus even more strongly on the network of the independent scene throughout the state and on topics such as free working methods, third-party funding and touring. The various perspectives on independent production will be brought together and discussed in various formats during the Parkour.
For Parkour 2020: “Weiter Zeigen!” we invite actors* from the independent scene in Saxony, from small festivals to established venues, from funding foundations to cultural policy to HELLERAU!
