MIGRANTPOLITAN
BANTABA-SESSION WITH BAKZ
As part of the Intro artists’ residency, Bakary Trawally is conducting practice-oriented research on ARTISTIC CITIZENSHIP. The concept of “artistic citizenship” has been circulating in various academic and cultural circles for several years and is now being applied to life practice in Migrantpolitan. In this discourse, room for manoeuvre is negotiated; artistic quality is placed in an interplay between the development of one’s own artistic practice and a world in which not all people have the same preconditions. The relevance and value of the arts for society unfold in constant interaction with the society of which the arts are a part. From this logic, art and citizenship are reciprocal, negotiable concepts that can be learned, appropriated and thus transformed.
