Under what conditions is hybrid programming successful? This workshop summarizes the learnings of hybrid festival curators and artists who have worked with and in international artist, hacker, creative coding and media art communities in a hypothesis-based manner. Attendants will discuss and define conditions for successful hybrid programme work, ideally also conditions useful for actually measuring the success of the work. The results will be quickly compiled into a compact working paper that will serve as a basis, inspiration and resource for further discussions, applications and networking efforts at a regional, national and international level.

The workshop will be led by the team of the project NODE switch, which is being developed as a cooperation between the Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm and NODE Forum for Digital Arts. NODE switch is a growing collection of acquired experience and knowledge from years of working with and in media art/creative coding communities on hybrid event formats, community organisations and design principles for international digital spaces. NODE switch defines itself as a set of tool that is constantly being expanded and made available as open source for colleagues of all disciplines.
