‘New Allies’ – this is the motto of this year’s edition of the NORDWIND festival, which focuses on home, living space and identity: What does home mean in a time characterised by migration movements and globalisation? What impact does climate change have on our own living space? How does the sense of belonging change when nationalist movements gain strength and right-wing ideologies gain influence? And what new alliances can emerge in the field of tension between these issues? The invited artists present works that reflect their own experiences of uprooting, discrimination, oppression and loss. With their works, they offer critical and empowering perspectives on topics that are often rarely or only one-sidedly discussed in public. They open up a space in which notions of belonging and identity are not understood as static, but as fluid and open concepts. They question boundaries and create connections – at a time when new alliances seem more urgent than ever. The NORDWIND festival has been taking place regularly at Kampnagel since 2011. Curated by Ricarda Ciontosin cooperation with Kampnagel, the programme brings together artistic positions from the Nordic countries and at the same time transglobal collaborations that place political, historical and social discourses at the centre of the debate, which extends far beyond the borders.
