SHAHIN SHEIKHO
HAPPY NIGHTMARE

  • Performance

HAPPY NIGHTMARE tells the story of a young refugee whose bad dreams make him want to kill himself every night. But when he fails to do so, he sinks straight into the next nightmare – a pattern from which he cannot free himself. The play is based on real-life experiences and is the story of thousands of people who were forced to flee their homes. After his arrival in Germany in 2016, the director Shahin Sheikho resumed the creative work that he had previously undertaken in Syria, Iraq and Turkey. In this project, his first solo work in Hamburg, he will attempt to express the difficulties he has faced following his flight while continuing to develop his own theatrical language.
