Klang & Realität #1

  • Music

The Sound & Reality series presents sound and music realisations from the study programme of the same name at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann University of Music. Curated by Phillip Schulze, the first edition brings together Xayíde, Dennis Scheiba and Thomas Meckel with Josephine Stamer as part of the EZB music project. Electroacoustic soundscapes between noise and dance meet spatial audiovisual formats and mix with classics of music history such as Hero by Mariah Carey and children’s musical frogs.

Xayíde, the alter ego of musician Aura Danielle Muñoz Barragán, creates a fascinating electro-acoustic soundscape through improvised pieces using modular synthesisers. Her music combines warm, dark and sweaty sounds and moves artfully between noise and dance.

Dennis Scheiba relies on spatial audiovisual formats to reflect the conflicts in digitalisation and consumption and has performed his works in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Cologne, Graz and Karlsruhe, among others. For this evening, the theme of polarisation will be considered: between positive and negative, beginning and end, silence and noise – with acceleration into our own collective abyss.
