tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf

Situated in a former tram depot, tanzhaus nrw features two stages and eight dance and productions studios, all of which are exclusively dedicated to contemporary dance. As an international centre, it is both a performance and production venue for more than 200 events a year and an academy with 1500 visitors a week. The combination of the presentation of contemporary dance and the academy makes the house unique in Germany.
The tanzhaus nrw is an important cooperation partner for the local and regional dance scene in Düsseldorf and North Rhine-Westphalia. Co-productions, guest performances, festivals and programme focuses are conceived and realised in diverse collaborations with both national and international artists and partners. The artistic programme of the tanzhaus nrw is dedicated to a critical examination of the present, based on many-voiced artistic perspectives on the body, choreography, dance and society.
Bettina Masuch has been artistic director and managing director since 2014. Since the 2022/23 season, the tanzhaus nrw has been directed by Ingrida Gerbutavičiūtė.
