KUNST & DIGITALES LEBEN May 23 to May 25 2019
FFT Düsseldorf and tanzhaus nrw

Our everyday lives are already intricately entwined with a vast technological spectrum; smartphones and The Internet of Things, augmented and virtual reality direct our perceptions, conditioning disposable options while also changing our experience of space and time. The fusion of information technology with entertainment electronica, the transition from the mobile phone to the smartphone, towards technically sophisticated hardware and individual use of apps create in nite possibilities to connect with people, but also all-encompassing surveillance, algorithmic heteronomy and the economisation of many areas of life.

The second edition of Claiming Common Spaces by the Alliance of International Production Houses under the title “Kunst & digitales Leben/Art & Digital Life” will be presented by FFT Düsseldorf and tanzhaus nrw. The three-day work meeting focusses on the question how digital culture shapes or lives together as well as the conditions for production and reception in the (performative) arts. Digital present and future will be discussed and tested on its potential for participation and critical appropriation, throughout talks, laboratories, workshops and performances.
