Alliance of International Production Houses

At the beginning of the 20th century HELLERAU was founded as a joint project of industry, research and art and as a response to industrialization and changes in working and living conditions. With “Hybrid”, HELLERAU is establishing a new international platform, a laboratory, experimental and discourse space for the arts in the digital age and critical phases of global transformation processes. In cooperation with ARS ELECTRONICA (Linz), ZKM (Karlsruhe), ONASSIS STEGI (Athen), IRCAM (Paris) and others, the focus will be on international and local artists and collectives that explore, visualize, discuss and further develop the interfaces of technology, science, philosophy and society.

With Hybrid a new international platform for the arts in the digital age and critical phases of global transformation processes will be established.

Hybrid – Cutting Edge is a format in collaboration with MUTEK, that annually presents international and local electronic sound and new media artists in HELLERAU. The project Hybrid – Cutting Edge Canada is part of the cultural program of Canada’s guest country appearance at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2020/21, in collaboration with MUTEK and with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Government of Canada.

Hybrid is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of the Alliance of International Production Houses
