It takes around eight and a half minutes for sunlight to reach our planet. The sun works continuously to provide the light and warmth without which there would be no life on the earth’s surface. It is loved and revered for this. Increasingly, however, it is also perceived as threatening or portrayed as aggressive. Yet the sun itself only looks on impotently at the heating, fires and burns that it causes in times of anthropogenic climate change.

“Sun” is the second part of Doris Uhlich’s melancholy trilogy. Together with a child, ten-year-old Romy Nagl, the Austrian choreographer and dancer dedicates a sun show to the celestial body that illuminates almost everyone and everything and can both enable and destroy existences, in which she combines physical, artistic and cultural-historical dimensions.
